Where the heck have you been, Ashley?

Hi. Sorry I fell off the face of the social media Earth. I couldn’t physically handle more than the few major things that were going on in my life, and I am not exaggerating. My body was under so much stress from midterms week in graduate school (let alone several other factors) that I got shingles. Who gets shingles at 22? Well, apparently it can happen to anyone who had chicken pox in the past (shout out to my sixth grade homeroom class for writing me awesome ‘get well soon’ cards), not just the elderly. Turns out, because my immune system is so suppressed because of the medications I am on, I was at a significantly greater risk of contracting the virus compared to the general population. Having Crohn’s Disease in itself also increases a person’s chances of getting shingles.
On the bright side, I didn’t miss a single day of class the entire second half of the summer. For the first time in four semesters, I did not begin or end the semester in the hospital or have to tell my profess…
